Dental Examination and Treatment Plan
We stay up to date with technology and modern materials on the market. Photos and digital x-rays are part of the diagnostic plan. Emergency treatments are done first and the rest of the treatment plan is carried out in phases over a period.
Oral Hygiene
Of the most underrated aspects of dental health is brushing and flossing- nothing more, nothing less. Plaque is the cause of dental decay and gum disease. Removing plaque removes the cause of the problem. In our oral hygiene program, plaque and the older version of plaque, tartar, is mechanically removed with a scaler and polisher. A patient becomes involved in their problem, by learning how to brush and floss, to see the symptoms of decay and gingivitis, and is taught how to prevent it. Two things are paramount: First the cleaning and second, the diet. Get these two things right and your problems will start to diminish and eventually disappear. Visit your dentist every 6 months!
Children – Paediatric dentistry
We are child friendly dentists. We understand the nervous parent and the anxious child. From the first visit the parent is involved in the caring of their child’s teeth. A parent is taught how to care for those baby teeth. We take preventative care of decay and growth patterns. Sedative dentistry is available or general anaesthesia. Introduce a child from the age of 3 years to a dentist. Build confidence in your dentist and help your child through their dental journey.
Composite Fillings (Metal Free Tooth Color/white Fillings)
Aesthetics in dentistry is an enormous subject and it encompasses the entire spectrum of Dentistry. What it means in effect, is that careful attention is given to cosmetic detail when restoring or reconstructing a tooth. The restoring of a tooth must mimic the natural healthy dentition. Non-aesthetic techniques like metal fillings are well proven and cheaper. Although: Aesthetics is your choice, and we can give it to you!
Root Canal Treatment
What is root canal therapy? Primarily it is a means of saving a tooth by the removal of the nerve that is found inside every tooth. After the nerve has been removed, the tooth no longer reacts to cold and hot sensations and no longer trouble the patient. The huge advantage of this treatment is that it gives the tooth another life. The alternative is an extraction of the tooth.
Removal of teeth – Extractions
Extraction of a tooth happens if there is no other way to restore it or alleviate the pain.
Dentures
We offer a vast range of denture procedures, which include immediate dentures, full upper and lower removable dentures, partial removable denture, chrome cobalt removable denture and fixed denture.
Mouth Guards
Highly recommended for rugby and hockey.
Crowns and Bridges
The word “cap” is the lay term for crown and ‘crown is a word with two meanings in Dentistry. Firstly, it refers to the part of the natural tooth which is visible in the mouth. Secondly it refers to the item manufactured in a dental laboratory which is placed over the broken tooth to re-build it. Teeth can be crowned for various reasons namely reconstruction of severely damaged teeth, preventing a fracture of a weakened tooth and aesthetics to change the form, color, or defect of a tooth. A bridge is two or more crowns which are fabricated together as one unit. They therefore ‘bridge’ over a gap or space left by another tooth that has been lost. Porcelain crowns and bridges are part of our advanced dentistry range.
Implants
We do implants to replace a missing tooth. Implants can be used for single crowns, bridges or for fixed dentures. It is part of the advanced dentistry range and should be well planned
Veneers
As the name implies these are thin superficial coverings for teeth. They are usually made of porcelain and are usually applied to the front teeth. Huge cosmetic improvements can be made with veneers where both the color and form of the tooth was the initial problem. It is part of our advance dentistry range.
